Art :: Conceptual
Conceptual art places the emphasis on the ideas or concepts involved in the art work. It started as a movement in the 1960s. Marcel DuChamp paved the way for concept-based art through his readymades. DuChamp's contribution to the artworld was acknowledge by Joseph Kosuth as he wrote, "All art (after DuChamp) is conceptual (in nature) because art only exists conceptually."
The Proposal
In the style of silent films, similar to Charlie Chaplin, a man proposes to a woman as he presents her a ring at a park on a hot, sunny day. We see the characters expressions and black cards tells the story. This is quite a charming film, old charm, that is. The piano music creates the mood along with the sound of the reel.
Box: A Modern Art Film
It's a box, a box, a box. This black and white film shows what could be done with it and the relationship one can have with it. It's fun and creative. It's postmodern. A woman crawls into it, walks around with it over her head with music by Joanna Newson, "This Side of the Blue." It's whimsical nature calls out to the child within all of us and how important it is to nurture that. I am inspired. It awakened the child in me and I want to crawl into a box and hide and play.
