Time is one of the factors that makes life meaningful. Life has a beginning and and end. In any time time lapse video, I find myself wondering what happens after. Often I am left wanting more. Isn't that what's life is about. That it is not long enough. In this sense, time lapse videos are special. The focus is on what happens during a particular interval of time and space. Ultimately, that's all that matters.

Water balloons popping in slow motion create beautiful art. Captured with a high speed camera, then slowed down to show the physics of impact. The explosions upon crashing are amazing, as the balloons distort, contort, and pop releasing their kinetic energy. Newton's Law of Conservation of Energy is nicely demonstrated in this video. Each moment is individual and paths will never cross again. That's what makes capturing in time reveals about life. The music is inspiring, soothing and grand. It speaks to the precious and dear moments that we overlook, those dead moments in the car, zoning out, that we spend in transit.
Reno Balloon Race 2006
Colorful balloons, 106 of them, decorate the blue skies as they ascend towards the heavens. It's a beautiful site. Some are shaped like animals: eagles, cows and bears. They all can fly and it's surreal and wonderful and alive. They are huge in comparison to the people the dot the land. In what looks like a dance, they move up and down, each contributing to the liveliness.
The video was shot with a Canon S3 using GBTimelapse and a Canon Pro1 on continuous mode. It's mesmerizing to watch. It uplifts the soul.
