The melting of ice cream looks so sad and delicious, though more sad than delicious. The process mirrors that of life itself in this time lapse video. Through time, the changes that occur to ice cream are documented, from their solid state to the liquid one. About half way through the video, this melting process reverses itself. The melted ice cream bars and scoops reassembled themselves into their solid state. If only time could be reversed in this way, there would be no death and decay.

It sounds like old news by now....another priest is under investigation for child porn. A New Bedford priest allegedly stored child porn on his personal computer. Children are targets for many perverts. Priests are no exceptions. They cannot resist evil and temptation. They are human afterall. They cling on to the concept of God, perhaps for their own salvation. Behind the protection of the church, many of them have gone long enough committing crimes against children. With sexual exploitation of children surfacing, the church and priesthood have lost much of its mystic. They are not holier than any other man. They have fallen, long ago. If I were to have children, would I want them to be atheists or run the risk of being molested or raped by priests that I have entrusted for the salvation of my children? Sadly, the priests are people we need to save our children from. They have committed crimes and violated our trust. Read more.

I read an interesting, impassioned, and emotional perspective by Michael Berglin regarding the situation in Russia where terrorists, "psycho, radical, Moslems," are holding school children as hostages. He finds their actions despicable and cowardly. Berglin addresses the terrorists in his writing.

"You are leaving the world no other choice than to look upon all Moslems with contempt, mistrust, and disdain."

History is in the making as I write my reactions to what I've read and watched tonight. Terrorism is the central issue of the day. I just watched the Republican Convention on television this evening. George W. Bush expresses his resolution in marching forward in the fight against terrorism, in securing America, and spreading American values and way of life. It seems that terrorists are not doing Islam any favors by waging war against America and ideals such freedom, happiness, equality, and corporatization.

The actions of the terrorists remind me of tactics used by abusive and aggressive men or partners against women in our society. They try to rule by intimidation and psychological terror, often making threats to kill loved ones and families, if women don't succumb to their demands. Sometimes they make good on their threats, just to prove their point.

The price is great in dealing with brutish, intimidating individuals, but it's a fight that many women face everyday. On a collective level, we need to have the strength to face up to terrorists, and not be deterred by their methods of destruction and intimidation. The fight against terrorism will be waging on for years to come. People and nations cannot succumb to intimidation. Appeasement of the terrorists cannot be an option.

Racial and religious divisions exist between Muslim students and non-Muslims in British schools. As war with Iraq rages on, Muslim students have to deal with their multiple identities, as Ibrahim Lawson, head of Nottingham Islamia School said, "Muslim children really have three identities: their British identity, their religious identity and an identity which stems from their ethnic roots." Pope John Paul II paid a visit to Israel's Holocaust Memorial and said that the Roman Catholic Church is deeply saddened by Christian persecution of Jews throughout history. The stone floor of the Hall of Remembrance had names of death camps in remembrance of the 6 million Jews who had died in the Nazi genocide. A letter from one Polish Jew to her friend was read. The Jewish woman had asked her friend to look after her 7-year-old son in hopes of protecting him from the Nazis. Both the woman and her son perished in Auschwitz. Read more.
