I recently discovered Jessica Delfino on youtube.com. I become an instant fan. She sings about issues concerning women and what it feels like to be a woman. Her material is honest, fresh, and empowering. She reminds me of Tori Amos who also deals with female issues in an unflinching way.
From her interview on the Checkerboard Kids Program on Manhattan Neighborhood Network, she sings about the female's monthly period. "Remember, oh remember once a month for a week, I bleed from my vagina." She speaks to the male audience who might not understand the sudden mood changes that a female goes through. If only my sex education teacher could have sung the lessons to me when I was young.
