June 2010 Archives

Welcome to summer time in California where the girls are pretty and the sun shines brightly. Katy Perry champions California girls in her song, "California Gurls", by capturing our spunky, fun-loving nature. It's a make-believe candyland. We participate in it and perpetuate it. We make it our reality. Make a splash, make love, and make this summer one to remember. Katy Perry rocks!

Everything we surround ourselves with says something about us. One woman answered 25 random questions and in process revealed much about her taste, thoughts, and interests. As I listened to her, I found myself answering the questions and learned more about myself. The simplest questions could be the most provocative.

One of my favorite singers, Tori Amos, sings at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. She dedicates "Upside Down" to Earth and the devastation in the gulf. Tori's music possesses an incredible power to heal. We all need some healing sometimes.

Alex Wong danced emotionally and beautifully with Allison Holker to Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" on "So You Think You Can Dance" last night. Choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, the piece was about salvation, finding peace in oneself and the world. With incredible technique and artistry, Alex Wong delivered a moving piece, characterized by pain and struggle, that stunned the judges, audience, and viewers. It was pure poetry in motion.
