Tiger Woods on His Marriage

Tiger Woods speaks publicly for the first time since his November accident. Since then, reports of indiscretion have plagued him. In front of a group of his friends and supporters, he apologizes for his hurtful behavior and selfishness. He talks about working things out with his wife, Elin, and family. He says he'll be judged by his behavior over time. He has lost many endorsements since then. Will he and his marriage survive the scandal? This is one step towards mending his image. We finally see Tiger as a real person, flawed and human. Perhaps we are confronted by our own flaws.

Simon's Cat 'Snow Business' (Parts 1 and 2)

How much trouble can a cat and a bird get into in the snow? Charming and clever, this animation illustrates the relationship between one cat and a bird as they taunt each other. They both try to trap each other in their own way. The bird, perched on a fence, throws snowballs at the cat, while the cat tries to eat it. It makes for an interesting snowy day. It's snowing? Go play.

Imagining Pluto

Our space travels provide us with knowledge about other planets and their environments. The focus is on Pluto and its icy thin atmosphere which is thought to be made up of nitrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide. What would it be like to live there? Can it support life? Is there life on other planets? These are some existential questions regarding the viability of life on other planets. Fascinating!

My Zhu Zhu Pets

Cute, fuzzy, and noisy, these hamsters were all the rage this past holiday season. One girl shows off her collection of five Zhu Zhu pets which she houses in a flower shop building. Living in the cardboard building are Jilly, Soodles, Pipsqueek, Winkie, and Num Nums. She received them for Christmas and her birthday. She sounds as adorable as her pets. Celebrate girlhood.

Gwen Stefani talks about her inspiration for her fashion line, L.A.M.B., during Fashion Week. This season, she says it's all about her and a little of Hollywood, 1930's prostitute, vintage and cute girl. Her line features corsets and baggy pants. She's so talented and has a incredible sense of style. I love her.

Raw Footage: Snowmageddon at the White House

On February 10, 2010, record-setting snowfall in Washington D.C. covered the White House. The snow coated everything and at one point almost completely enveloped the White House. Workers could be seen plowing it. There was much effort put into clearing it so that people can walk and play in the snow again.

Winter is here and with it comes big snow storms and rainy weather. It could be freezing cold. This time-lapse video captures the beauty of the falling snow as it descends on a teddy bear sitting on a park bench and everything around it. Over time, the bear is completely enveloped by the snow, and the tree branches nearby drooped with its weight during the Feb. 5-6 snowfall in Washington D.C.. Without sound, all is calm and peaceful. Mesmerizingly beautiful.

1 Guy 600 Cups

One guy who was sick decided to play with cups. Using 600 clear plastic cups, he built a beautiful sculpture. He captured the process in video. Play could lead to the most artistic expression. Be creative. Have fun!

Egg in a Bottle

Knowledge is acquired through experimentations in science. Molly celebrates Create a Vacuum Day by conducting her own experiment, "Egg in a Bottle." She lights up three matches, throws them in to a bottle, puts an egg on top of the rim of the bottle to create a seal as the bottle heats up. The egg squeezes through the rim as the interior of the bottle cools down. Quite entertaining!

Directional Antennas

Electromagnetic waves are transmitted by antennas. Diana Eng from Make magazine demonstrates how a Yagi antenna, used to transmit directional signals, works by setting up an experiment. She tests the directionality of the antenna by using a light-bulb receiver. Very cool.

We all know having unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy. Dr. Flisser explains how ovulation works. He highlights the varying probabilities of pregnancy during different days of our menstrual cycle. Unless we are actually trying to get pregnant, we should consider using some form of birth control. Sex is great. Enjoy it!

Illustrations could be magical in expressing emotions and thoughts, but behind most successful drawings are great technique. There is a systematic approach and layering on of details that contribute to the finished product. As we watched Crilley work, he brings to life a beautiful, other-worldly girl.

Learn how to make a box that requires knowing the secret in order to open it. Make magazine shows us how in this step-by-step demonstration. The man cutting the wood and assembling the box makes it look easy, but the cuts need to be precise so that they will fit together seamlessly. For those of us good with our hands, this is a great box to make in our spare time. Very cool.
